Rab is also home to one of Europe’s most famous mountain bike races “Mitas 4 Islands”. Together with Krk, Cres and Lošinj, there is a 250 km long racing distance and brings an incredible combination of terrain variability, sharp and steep climbs, races whose paths pass by the sea, climb to the summits where you can enjoy breathtaking views.

  • Goli Otok , Grgur

    The Goli otok ( Naked Island) or the Croatian Alkatraz, as they still know it, is one of the most notorious communist prisons in Europe. Opened immediately after the Second World War, and closed in 1988, it was a shameful home for many, first and foremost political and later other inmates. t is believed that through the hell of Goli Otok has passed more then 16,000 people. Today, the island is uninhabited, abandoned and partly ruined, attracts many tourists seeking to know the history of the island and the tattered years during which the prison has operated.

    Aside the Goli Otok, lies the forested island of Sv. Grgur where the remains of a well-known penitentiary for women are. Today, the island of Sv. Grgur, is the true oasis of the Mediterranean greenery, autochthonous plants. Nearly untouched bays of the island attract many sailors, but also other tourists looking to discover the benefits of this landscape. Here you have the opportunity to meet and feed the gentle fallow deers that have become a recognizable island attraction.

Gastronomic specialties of the Middle Ages are tasted, and the offer is truly rich. The ghost of the past is present on every corner with its costumed participants guided by the Knight represented by the mayor of the island and the knights, Rab crossbowmen. On the last day of the Festival, a knight tournament is held, which closes this magnificent spectacle till the next year. Rapska Fjera is truly a unique event and an unforgettable experience!
